Papers consist chiefly of lectures by Alice R.H. Smith and Daniel E.H. Smith but also include miscellaneous items. Four typed lectures with annotations by Alice R.H. Smith concern the history of Charleston, South Carolina, Charleston and plantation architecture of the 18th and 19th centuries, interior design in the 1850s, and gardens; with references to 27 King St., 71 Church St., 34 and 51 Meeting St., and 54 Hasell St., among others. Two typescript lectures (ca. 1914) by Daniel Elliott Huger Smith concern Mulberry and Wappaoolah Plantations. Miscellaneous items include stray pages from Alice R.H. Smith's unpublished autobiography (ca. 1950), and a speech (1952) about Alice R.H. Smith by Mrs. W.J. Snyder, Jr.
